After more than a century in business, we're excited to announce that R C Coppin Ltd has a new name: The Stone Family.
A Tradition Reimagined
For over 100 years, our company has upheld a unique tradition—naming the business after the firstborn son of each generation. For four generations, the Coppin family named their first-born Ronald, with the most recent being Ronald Charles, whose initials formed R C Coppin Ltd.
But when we began updating our original Old English text logo—a style traditional to memorial masons—we realised something important: while our name honoured one person, our business has always been built by many.
Breaking with Tradition (Sort Of)
The tradition took an interesting turn in the 1980s when Ronald Charles decided to name his children Rose and Charles, rather than continuing the Ronald lineage. Rose inherited the 'R', and Charles carried on the 'C'. The original plan was to transition to R & C Coppin Ltd upon his retirement. Rose has since kept the tradition alive into our sixth generation by naming her son Rueben.
Why The Stone Family?
The truth is, we've always been a true family business. Our mother, aunts, uncles, cousins, and partners all work together to create the exceptional stonework we're known for. Multiple generations of Coppins collaborate daily, bringing their unique skills and perspectives to every project.
In today's world, family businesses like ours are increasingly rare. The Stone Family name finally reflects who we really are—not just one person's legacy, but a collective dedication to craft, quality, and tradition that spans generations.

While our name is new, everything else remains the same. We're still the same team of master craftsmen you've trusted for over a century. We're still committed to blending traditional techniques with modern technology and sustainable practices.
